2023 Tournament results
April 02 Shelbyville OpenTournament
The morning began very nice, but around 10:00 o'clock things got windy and cooler. Twelve boats entered the tournament with ten boats weighing fish. Brian Cleveland and his partner had the winning weight at 5.23 lbs. for 5 fish. Zach Hari and Mike Bristol came in second with 4.67 lbs. for 5 fish. Third place went to Greg Kaiser and Jim Garrett weighing 4.33 pounds for their five fish. The team of Hari and Bristol weighed the biggest crappie at 1.48 lbs.
The next tournament will also be at lake Shelbyville on April 23rd with registration at the Bo Wood ramp. This will be another open tournament with a registration discount for club members. I'm hoping we will see much better weather and I invite all central Illinois fishermen to consider joining us in the tournament.
April 23 ShelbyvilleOpen Tournament
Winter returned today! Even a few snowflakes fell. The sun did come out later in the morning and it did warm up somewhat. Thankfully, the wind was much less than the day before. The tournament saw 11 boats enter with 10 boats weighing fish. All teams weighed 5 fish. Brian Cleland weighed 5.30 lbs of crappie for 1st place. Second place went to the team of Jett and Max Lappin with a weight of 5.21 lbs. Rick Barnes and Tom Fermanian took 3rd place with 4.85 pounds for their 5 fish. Fourth place went to Steve Peck and Jenny Price with 4.61 lbs of crappie. The last payout was for 5th place to Eric and Gilbert Mullins with 4.59 lbs of fish. The big fish was landed by Jett and Max Lappin at 1.28 lbs. We thank all those that have participated and look forward to seeing you in the future.
The next open tournament will be at the Bo Wood boat ramp on Sunday, May 7. Parts of the lake will still be in spawn so there will be plenty of opportunity to catch fish. We hope to see you there and good luck.
May 7 ShelbyvilleOpen Tournament
The tournament saw 7 boats enter with 6 boats weighing fish. All teams weighed 5 fish. Eric Mullins weighed 4.43 lbs of crappie for 1st place. Second place went to the team of Bruce and J. Chapman with a weight of 4.41 lbs. Nathan Smith and Robin Foster took 3rd place with 4.23 lbs. for their 5 fish. The big fish was landed by Bruce and J. Chapman at 1.17 lbs. We thank all those that have participated and look forward to seeing you in the future.

May 27 Shelbyville Tournament
It was just about a perfect day for fishing with comfortable temperatures and light winds. Seven boats entered the tournament in all weighed fish. Matt Mullins and Scott Williams took first place with a weight of 4.48 lbs. Kyle Bieker and Tony Bieker weighed 4.27 lbs of crappie for 2nd place. Third place went to the team of Joe Szabo and his grandson with a weight of 3.75 lbs. Eric Mullen and Gilbert Mullen took 4th place with a weight of 3.65 lbs and weighed the biggest fish of the tournament at 1.18 lbs.
We thank all of those that participated in a tournament and encourage you to consider fishing in our final spring tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 then we will start at 7:00 AM but finish at noon. This is a big crappie tournament with participants only weighing 1 fish. The three heaviest crappie will win a prize. $250 for 1st place, $150 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd. There will be a fish fry after the weigh in at the Bo Wood pavilion. Bring the family and enjoy a fun afternoon with all of the participants.
June 10 Shelbyville Tournament
It was another perfect day for fishing with comfortable temperatures and light winds. Eight boats entered the tournament. The format of this competition was very different with only the heaviest fish being weighed. Each boat weighed their single biggest fish. Tom Fermanian and Rick Barnes took 1st place with a weight of 1.14 lbs. Eric Mullen and Gilbert Mullen weighed a crappie at 0.85 lbs for 2nd place. Third place went to Fred Brozio with a weight of 0.82 lbs.
A fish fry was provided after weight-in by club member Bob Foran. We thank Bob and Tony Jezek for a wonderful afternoon meal. We also thank all of those that participated in the tournament and encourage you to consider fishing in our Fall tournaments. The fall schedule is currently being developed.
September 10 Shelbyville Tournament
It was another perfect day for fishing with comfortable temperatures and light winds. Six boats entered the tournament. Brian Cleland and Steve Fermon took 1st place with a weight of 5.33 lbs. Shawn Shelby weighed 3.96 lbs for 2nd place. Third place went to Alyssa Kaiser and Greg Kaiser with a weight of 3.81 lbs.
September 23 Shelbyville Tournament
October 07 ClintonTournament
It was another perfect day for fishing with comfortable, but cooler temperatures and light winds. Fourteen boats entered the tournament. Jim Garrett and Greg Kaiser took 1st place with a weight of 4.35 lbs. Jeff Cooper and Zach Hari weighed 4.27 lbs for 2nd place. They also weighed the biggest fish at 1.52 lbs. James Crawley took 3rd place with 3.44 lbs. Fourth place went to Steve Zehr with 3.09 lbs. Weights appeared to be lower for this tournament due to a cold front starting the evening before.
The Central Illinois Crappie Club sincerely thanks Constellation Energy for their generous donation to make this tournament possible. This was the 7th year of their support.

October 21Shelbyville Tournament
Five boats entered the tournament. Anthony Davis took 1st place with a weight of 5.63 lbs. and weighed the biggest fish at 1.36 lbs. David Troke weighed 4.09 lbs. for 2nd place. Eric Mullen took 3rd place with 3.74 lbs.
